Pizza Rat Dog Costume!

This year, we've been a little disappointed with some of the dog costumes out there for Halloween 2015. Fortunately, we found inspiration from a viral video snapped in our former hometown of NYC…

Introducing, Paddington Pizza Rat!!!

While we didn't go totally home-made on this one (sighhhh, I still don't know how to use a sewing machine), we did find/source the parts.

Here's what you'll need for your Pizza Rat costume:

1. Children's sized mouse accessories: We found this set on Amazon and then modified the tail and head piece for Paddington. Depending on how big your dog is, you could probably use adult sized accessories as well, or something that comes on a headband. We did like that this one uses an elastic which we were able to secure to Paddy's collar for a snug fit. The tail we attached using a bobby pin.

2. Pizza toy: While you could use a real piece of pizza… you'd have to snap those photos pretty fast (and I'm fairly confident that pizza is not good for humans or dogs). There are several variations on pizza themed dog toys out there -- again, Amazon has a fairly good selection. We went with the 8" slice from PrideBites, which was the perfect scale for Paddy.

We still can't help but giggle looking at these photos- Paddy really is the perfect little pizza monster. While we're not sure our fellow Californians will get it, we know the New Yorkers will :) Are you dressing your pup up this year?

Halloween Dog Costumes 2014 - The Good, The Bad and The Scary…

Halloween is one of our favorite holidays, but this year we are totally lacking inspiration when it comes to Paddy's costume for 2014. Cruising the web has not unfortunately helped much… it seems like a lot of what's out there is totally just phoned in, if you know what I mean…

Case in point:
Seriously? What the heck is this?

While we were really hoping to get our act together and do something homemade, with Halloween right around the corner (okay, so like three weeks), that doesn't seem likely. Thus we're sussing out what's available online, and here are some of our favorite options:

Does your dog have a furry face? Yes? Well then this Ewok costume might be right up their alley.

Available across the web, but we found it at Amazon.com

Nothing is more bizarre than animals dressing up as other animals…. thus there is a special place in our heart for this Octo-hound costume. Also ringing at less than $20 on this site, it's not going to break the bank.

This costume, is unfortunately sold out, but is probably one of the greatest Howl-o-ween dog costumes we've seen. Yes, that's a piñata. Doubtful that t will come back into stock before Halloween, but we found it online here. For those that are crafty, there's also a great DIY post on this blog on how to make your own piñata costume if you are that way inclined.

Sherlock Hound is just too adorable for words. A little on the pricier side, but it's pretty cute.

Personally, we've always thought Paddy would make a cute ballerina, so that's the current direction we're heading… stay tuned, we'll let you know how it's looking...

Is your dog dressing up this Halloween? What has inspired you?

Paddy "bugs" out for Halloween!

Halloween is by far one of our favorite holidays of the year-- and as usual, we made sure to pick up our costume ASAP! This year, our little bug is donning Animal Planet's Butterfly costume. (I know we are biased, but seriously, how cuuuuteee does Paddy look?!)

We picked ours up from HalloweenCostumes.com for $12.99 and went with the X-Small, which fits pretty well on our 6lb model (albeit, a little big-- nothing a safety pin can't fix!).

What is your pup dressing up a for Halloween? Something spooky or snuggly?

Turtle, turtle?

This incredibly awkward turtle costume is uh-amazing for the following reasons:

First, it allows your dog to prevent being identified, thus avoiding public shame.

Second (and most importantly), nothing is more uncomfortable than animals dressing up like other animals.

Howl-o-ween Costumes!

Okay, so arguably it may be a little bit early to start thinking about Halloween-- but if you're like us, it's time to start planning! Especially, as in the past when we've left it to the last minute we've discovered the extra-small and small sizes tend to sell out.

Check out the awesome array of options at one of our favorite online boutiques: GW Little. This year, they've got over 50 adorable outfits for your pooch ranging from $26 to $59.

Our picks:
And I think it's gonna be a long, long time,
'til touch down brings me 'round again to find
I'm not the dog they think I am at home
Oh no, no, no I'm a Rocket Space Dog!
$47.99

This Halloween, let Toto take the spotlight as Dorothy!
$26.99 (Ruby Red Slippers sold separately for $59.00)

Snag your pooch's size while they're still available!
