Having a dog in an urban environment in summer has made us aware of how hard it can be to keep your pup cool when the sidewalks are scorching, trees are non-existent, and water bowls are few and far-between. Thus, we decided to seek out the best products on the market that make it easy (and fun!) to quench your pooch's thirst.
Welcome to the first post in our 2011 Summer Hydration Series, which has been renamed-- Hydration for Hounds (HfH)!
For our first 2011 HfH post, we checked out the Freezy Pups Kit, which allows you to create delicious frozen treats for your dog.* The kit comes with everything you need-- simply add water! Made from human-grade, organic ingredients, each mix is wheat, corn, soy and gluten free and does not contain artificial colors or preservatives. There are four flavors to choose from-- White Cheddar Cheese, Sweet Potato n' Maple, Juicy Apple and Chicken Soup.
We chose the Chicken Soup flavor to help our pups cool off this past weekend. Simply mix the packette with warm water, pour it into the mold, pop it into the freezer, and BAM-- delicious frozen treats with less than 4 calories each (!!).

In addition to feeding Freezy Pups straight out of the freezer, you can also melt them and add them to your dogs kibble for a little extra flavor.

i normally make yuki her own frozen treats, but i've been looking for a cute dog-ice cube tray that i can put the treats to freeze in and i love this one. i think i'd give the flavor package a try to see what yuki thinks. :)
